I'm a creative director and designer working at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and people to tackle design challenges with heart.

My background is in brand, marketing, editorial, and product design.

Unity

May 2016 – February 2023

The exhilarating energy of exponential growth defined my time at Unity. My resourceful creativity, comfort with discomfort, passion for narrative, and burning curiosity for getting to the ‘why’ flourished. I started building a San Francisco Brand team hub within my first year. Eventually, I transferred my experience in brand and marketing to create a new Product Experience team.

  • Assembled teams. I co-led the formation of the in-house brand team of about 20 talented individuals across disciplines. After a 2020 company reorg, I directed a cross-functional design team of 12 to grow our games business. 

    Product experience. In 2022, I established a new, fully embedded Product Design & Experience team of two designers and three UX researchers to re-imagine and re-launch Unity Hub. Our vision was to shift the perception internally and externally of what the product’s trajectory could become. Day-to-day, our goal was to move away from sporadic feature trickles towards strategic research-based releases that served user pain points, all while improving customer satisfaction.  

    Branding for growth. As head of Brand, I facilitated conversations and workshops between our in-house design team, product managers, and execs to develop our brand in a way that would support our productization strategies—going from one product to more than 40. This effort included branding, ad campaigns, marketing toolkits, and sales enablement. 

    Public offering. For Unity’s IPO in 2020, I was part of a small design team who developed, directed, and launched the company’s IPO campaign. We collaborated closely with Unity’s C-suit and the NYSE marketing team to plan and execute placement across print and digital in high-visibility places in New York City, including Time Square.  

    Compelling storytelling. I provided creative and narrative direction for 15+ global keynotes at events around the world, including the Game Developers Conference (GDC), Cannes Lion, Web Summit, Sundance Film Festival, and Unite.  

    Engaging spaces. I collaborated closely with the event team’s leads and two vendors to redesign our exhibition brand strategy to improve guest experience, brand consistency, and scalability. Launched at GDC in March 2019, the new design drew thousands of attendees through our show floor, increasing customer engagement and brand perception. This design system is still in place today and implemented across the globe.

Metro Parent Media Group

December 2006 – December 2015

Print is dead. That was the headline I faced during my time at Metro Parent Media Group, and yet, despite both a drop in national magazine subscriptions and a crashing economy, we thrived. As Creative Director, I shaped the design strategy across print, web, in-person events, and partnerships. My time here was instrumental in understanding the importance of empathy, the creative potential of resourcefulness, and the collective superpower of perseverance.

  • Cover-to-cover. I directed the design of two monthly publications, including the creative direction for each cover shoot. We created fun, smart, engaging content that resonated with our readers and advertisers while being exceptionally resourceful.

    Cultivating creatives. Managed a small team of three in-house designers and maintained a network of more than 30 illustrators, stylists, photographers, and models.

    Driving revenue. Maintained a tight relationship with the sales team to reach monthly revenue targets and worked on bespoke publishing collaborations with museums, private health practices, educational organizations, and regional casinos to increase annual revenue targets.

    Elevating design. During my time leading creative, our two monthly publications won accolades for cover and feature design from the Parenting Media Association and the Society of Professional Journalists.

Philosophies

At best, design facilitates the connection between the world around us to the needs within us in delightful ways. At worst, design can alienate, frustrate, and harm. As designers, we can apply this thinking to create win-win situations for people on both sides of business while creating a more compassionate, inclusive tomorrow.
